Overview

Who Is Zeynep Çalışkan?

Zeynep Çalışkan graduated with honours from the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department at İstinye University. Following graduation, she deepened her professional development through international training programmes chosen along the axis of scoliosis-specific physiotherapy and spinal health. She delivers individualised programmes that prioritise supporting posture, balance and functional movement in scoliosis, and grounds her work in scientifically based methods.

Professional Journey

Education and Professional Journey

From her undergraduate years, her interest turned to spinal health and scoliosis. Scoliosis-specific physiotherapy — with its holistic structure shaped by the individual curve pattern and extending from assessment to follow-up — largely defined her professional direction. After completing her international training in this field, she continues her scoliosis-focused approach at FizyoWise.

Advanced Training

Key Training Programmes

ISST Schroth Therapy

A scoliosis-specific, three-dimensional exercise approach; grounded in the discipline of addressing posture correction, rotational breathing and trunk stabilisation together, according to the individual curve pattern.

LYON Method

The Lyon approach, a long-established school in scoliosis management; it provides a framework for conservative follow-up and the coordination of the bracing process.

SSOL Schroth Method

An international certification programme that consolidates Schroth-based assessment and treatment skills.

DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) — Levels A, B, C

Based on developmental kinesiology, it focuses on trunk stabilisation and functional movement control.

Her Approach

Her Approach to Scoliosis

For Zeynep Çalışkan, every scoliosis is unique; the process therefore begins with a comprehensive assessment. When the curve pattern, the person's age and stage of growth, and their daily-life habits are considered as a whole, an individualised road map takes shape. Drawing on Schroth and DNS principles, she addresses three-dimensional posture correction, rotational breathing training and functional stabilisation together. The process is supported by goal setting, education for the person and their family, and home programmes; where needed, it is carried out in coordination with orthopaedic physicians and orthotists. Its effectiveness is supported by regular reassessment and the person's active participation in the process.

“In scoliosis treatment, you need to reach not only the curvature but also the child's world. We walk this path together, learning as we go.”
